Are you a photographer in Pittsburgh? Are you interested in meeting up with other Pittsburgh photographers to discuss how to collaborate, talk about the local photo industry, or even just to grab a drink and hang out? As a photographer in Pittsburgh for more than 25 years I’ve gotten to know a ton of other great Pittsburgh photographers. As such, I strongly believe that we’re better together. In fact, trying to go it alone in this town can break you. So, if you’re looking to grow together, support each other, and thrive, then join me and other local Pittsburgh photographers at the Pittsburgh Photographers Meetup. Pittsburgh is a great all around place to live and do business. It’s an even better place when we come together as Pittsburgh photographers.

Why We Meetup

As Pittsburgh photographers we can gain valuable insight into the industry when we meet with each other. In addition, we can offer each other tips, advice, and support. Too, being able to meet others who share your particular interest or specialty is very helpful. In fact, it can lead to partnerships, mentorships, and so much more.

Where We Meetup

For this Pittsburgh Photographers Coffee Meetup we’ll be meeting at Parisi Cafe in Swissvale. If you’ve never been it’s an incredible locally owned coffee shop and small Italian Market. It is a bit on the small side, however I don’t expect that many of us will turn out for this first meetup. However, if a bunch of us do then we can migrate down the street to my front porch and/or home studio. In other words, yes Parisi Cafe is in my neighborhood, just down the street. That said, I decided to choose Parisi Cafe partly because I have two interns who might be joining us and they take the bus so I didn’t want to force them to travel very far. Plus, if you’ve never been you should really try this place. It’s not only in my neighborhood but is truly a special place. Also, the next one I organize will be at a different location.

My hope is to see Pittsburgh Photography Meetups happen in a variety of different locations. The most common are coffee shop for daytime get togethers or bars/restaurants for networking. In addition, we can and do meet for shoots, photo walks, and other photography specific fun.

When We Meetup

The goal of the Pittsburgh Photographers Meetup is to get together at least once a month. I also run a nature photography meetup monthly. That said, I don’t envision any single photographer in Pittsburgh owning the group. In other words, everyone is welcome to organize and promote these events – there is no trademark on the name (nor should there be). Additionally, there are no dues, no restrictions or policing of who shows up, and no other requirements. In fact, if you’ve never photographed anything for money and are just interested in photography, you are still very much welcome.

That said, this is a group primarily aimed at working photographers. Therefore, you’ll get the most out of it if you’re a working photographer in Pittsburgh.
