WDO Photo’s July Nature Photo Meetup

Create incredible photos of nature with me, Pittsburgh photographer and photography teacher Don Orkoskey of WDO Photography. Join me for my monthly nature photo meetup in Pittsburgh’s incredible Frick Park. This urban park is home to an abundance of animals, plants, fungi, and more. It’s impossible to not create a bunch of amazing nature photos at these meetups!

ABOUT THE NATURE PHOTO MEETUP

This and all of my events are open to everyone regardless of skill level, age, or type of equipment. In addition, those with mobility issues are always welcome as there are lots of opportunities here to see nature from level, paved areas. In fact, the Parks Conservatory are in the process of constructing a new, fully accessible area which will make the park even more welcoming. Speaking of welcoming, everyone is welcome at these and all of my meetups, workshops, classes and tours. The only thing not welcome is hate.

WHAT YOU MAY SEE

While nature is unpredictable I can promise that you’ll see a variety of birds and wildflowers. Additionally, we often see chipmunk, squirrel, deer and other critters. There’s no guarantees but I typically see raptors such as Redtail Hawks and other large birds such as Pileated Woodpeckers. In the Spring we sometimes see Black Rat Snakes (these are docile and nonvenomous). There are also some Snapping Turtles and different types of frogs in the ponds and other waterways. Too, there are Foxes and even Coyote in the park though in my 20+ years of visiting I’ve only ever once seen a Coyote and it was at 5 am driving through the park. That is, I was driving, not the Coyote.
